Do you know what tomorrow will bring ? ( Predicting )
If you are looking to buy a house for yourself or an investment property that will provide you with some extra income, you need to know exactly what you might be getting into. Are the real estate and financial markets stable enough that you will not end up taking a big hit financially? Do you have enough money put aside to weather the financial storms in the event that the financial tides turn unexpectedly? If you are uncertain about the market conditions or whether you can ride out a financial slide or not; then that is NOT a good time to be going out and buying anything!
There is nothing more frustrating or heartbreaking than buying a property then finding out that you cannot afford to keep it. Is there any way that you can avoid this? Yes, there is… consult a financial planner, advisor and/or a local realtor. They can look at the past trends and activity and give you a good idea about what the market could possibly do in the next few months. Of course, this does not always guarantee that you might still not find yourself in the middle of a downswing in the market; no one can really guarantee you that.
Do you have enough money put aside to weather the ups and downs of the current real estate market? Please remember that it takes money to make money, so you need to know what is coming next in terms of market movements. Did you realize that the market can take a sharp or sudden turn in either direction when no one realizes that these swings are coming? This is where having the best possible, most up-to-date information is a god-send is the real estate investor’s best friend. This does not always guarantee that you will not run into trouble; however it may keep you alerted to any possible changes.
If the ups and downs of the real estate market have your head spinning, don’t even try figuring out the stock market! That can have more ups and downs than a roller coaster… but so can the real estate market. Can anyone really predict what will happen tomorrow with the market? We can try our best to stay ahead of the changes that are coming, but that is not always easy. Are you willing to risk losing all that you’ve worked for? Can you bear to see your tenants put out of their homes because you did not see an economic bust coming or because you simply cannot afford to keep the property?
The main point here is to stay ahead of the market trends. “Forewarned is forearmed” as I believe the saying goes. That applies here, as much as any other part of life. While there are no absolutes or guarantees in life, you need to know everything you possibly can to stay afloat. Swimming through rough seas and rough patches goes with the territory (not only in life, but in the real estate game too.)
