Ning is social network website. Its slogan is Create your own social network for anything. It was launched in 2005 and it offers a platform for every type of user to make new relationship or to stay in contact with old relationships. Ning means peace and this platform is trying to build mutual understanding and peace. Ning is financed by venture capital and undisclosed set of investors. Its head office is located at California. It is a fast growing social network platform.

Ning is challenging all the large social sites for example MySpace and Facebook by attracting people who wish to create their own social networks in accordance to your specific interests with their own visual design, choice of options and member data. What makes Ning unique is its feature which allows anyone to builds his social network in accordance to users taste and interest. Ning offered many several simple base websites that is created internally and from few members of beta closed. Ning didn’t focus much at the group website, photo website and a video website for people to copy and use it for any function.

When a user creates a social network on Ning it is totally free and will display ads on Ning which are controlled by them. Premium services offered an extra storage and bandwidth. If additional monthly fee is paid non-Ning URL are also available.

Ning is used for developing educational resources and it was used by educators in S-GI to go through a book study on Curriculum Mapping many educators. Ning released support for open social APIs that Google in the summer of 2008.Ning’s service are programmed with PHP and the platform is built in Java.

Overall Ning is doing a great business and is experiencing a rapid growth. All users around the world like its features and admire its interface.
